Hello again!
In this article I'm going to open up new series the Celebrigreens. In each article I'll introduce you one celebrity who found it important to care about our nature. So the celebrigreen of the day is one of my favorite singer-songwriter - Jack Johnson:
Jack Johnson (born May 18, 1975) is a singer-songwriter, surfer, filmmaker and musician known for his work in the soft rock and acoustic genres. In 2001, he achieved commercial success after the release of his debut album, Brushfire Fairytales. He has since released four more albums, a number of EPs and surfing movies/soundtracks. He is also known for organizing an annual event, the Kōkua Festival. He currently has sold 8 million albums worldwide. His highest–selling album is Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George, with 4 million albums shipped worldwide, due to the success of the 2006 Curious George film. He resides in Hawaii.
So here's a little info about him in a nutshell.
In his 2010 To The Sea Tour, Jack done everything to avoid any enviromental damage which has been always big a problem amongst musicians. Here are the details about his greening program during his shows.
"The tour is collaborating with over 150 hand-chosen community groups working in the realms of plastic waste reduction, sustainable food systems, climate change, watersheds, environmental education, and more.
The Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation will match every dollar donated to the local non-profits at the show, up to $2,500 per group. As in 2008, Jack Johnson will donate 100% of his tour profits to charity.
This year's All At Once campaign is supporting non-profits and engaging fans in the realms of sustainable local food systems and plastic free initiatives.
Backstage, Jack and crew strive to make the shows zero waste events through recycling, composting, and other efforts to limit waste headed for the landfill."
and the list is not complete.
I think he showed us an example, so it's time to follow him. You can find any further details about his greening measures, and of course... about his heartfelt music.
Keep on greening :)
